Helping Leaders, Veterans & First Responders Overcome the Unseen Battle
Dr. Carter Check
Dr. Carter Check’s outdoor healing retreats help veterans, first responders, and leaders reconnect with nature, rebuild resilience, and reclaim purpose. Through hunting, archery, golf, and nature-based therapy, participants break free from isolation and develop the mental and physical strength to move forward.

I know what it means to carry unseen wounds—and I have seen too many struggle alone, believing they are beyond healing. I founded HunTherapy because traditional mental health approaches often fall short, missing the deeper need for community, mission, and meaning in the healing process. You’re still here—now let’s find out why. I aim to help others see that survival is just the beginning—thriving, leading, and finding purpose is the next step.
I have spent my career at the intersection of moral health, resilience, and ethical leadership, helping individuals navigate trauma, decision-making, and purpose-driven healing. As a Board-Certified Chaplain, Healthcare Ethicist, and Associate Professor of Moral Injury, my work is backed by academic research and real-world experience. From my time as a U.S. Army Cavalry Scout to serving as a Clinical Chaplain with a specialty in Suicide Prevention at the VA, I have dedicated my life to understanding and addressing unseen wounds.
Through keynote speaking, leadership training, and outdoor therapy retreats, I equip leaders, veterans, and first responders with the tools to rebuild resilience, navigate ethical dilemmas, and rediscover purpose. My expertise in moral injury, trauma recovery, and suicide prevention has led me to train professionals nationwide, integrating faith, science, and lived experience into practical healing frameworks. Whether through the written word, public speaking, or immersive outdoor experiences, my mission is to empower others to reclaim their lives.
